Inconsiderate coffeeshop patrons
By: Toh MM and Vanessa Swinn

MM: The other day I was at Compass Point's food-court. As usual, everyone was just standing around waiting for a seat. Most who already had a seat, took note of others and tried to leave their seats vacant as fast as possible. What I noticed however, was a young couple (now, even though their looks weren't all that striking, the guy was average-looking and the girl, average) they seemed to be courting and were at the end of their meal. *Cough, cough* *Cough again* SO obviously, everyone was just staring at them waiting for them to vacate their seats. And while they didn't seem oblivious to it, they didn't exactly seem to care either. After they had finished their meal, they took the time to get their drinks and slowly sip it up. What do you think about that?

VS: Well, they displayed an inconsiderate and selfish behaviour, though, it is true that once you're seated, you can dilly-dally and take your own time. And oh yes, don't forget, like you said, they were courting, so maybe that just wanted to spend some time together-the Kopitiam way.

MM: Then everyone should just take their own sweet time! I mean, i could be just spendin' quality n quantity time with my mom, dad or something equally stupid... LOL just kiddin'

Facial Expressions of Irritance
By: Vanessa Swinn

Nowadays, people express their displease or annoyment with, not words, but facial expressions such as -----> , =.='', >.<, 'XD' and o.O. Such expressions are little abstract creations which serves as an emotion. Usage of these symbols instead of words like, "How lame!", now replaced by: Diaoz, Swt (pronounced, SWEAT, see above animation). The term, 'Diaoz' or 'Swt' is to describe how lame or irrevelant something that someone has said or done. It isn't a fusion of words, nor is it an abbreviation.

Unforunately, I don't know where it seems to have been derived from. The person who created these symbols/expressions must've been very limited in his/her vocabulary to express his/her feelings, * replaced them with fuddy-duddy words and expressions.

Believe it or not, but these expressions have not only been used in chat rooms or in the virul realm, but NOW IN REAL LIFE! To create the =.=''' face, people spread 3 fingers on their face and narrow their eyes.
Oh, woe! to those of immaturity and mis-used creativity

BLOGGING-The New Trend
By: Vanessa And MM

VS: The Blogosphere was once a geek playground where they updated their daily Web Logs lamenting, commenting, praising & whatnot. Now, the Blogosphere is a mass community of more than 4 millon bloggers-geeks, rebels, senior citizens, moms, dads, and even ANIMALS!! But, what makes blogging so addictive is the advantage of being able to keep in touch with loved ones when you are overseas, with just a simple click of a button will lead them to your daily happenings. Also, expressing the inner YOU is much easier in the e-world, rather than in the real world.

MM: Well, quite frankly, there are a large handful of adults who view blogging as place for the displeased to complain and diss people. Thus, they ban their children from infiltrating the Blogosphere. And it's true what you say 'bout how blogging helps you keep in touch with family/friends. However, isn't it so much simpler to just call someone? Oh yeah..it's expensive..

VS: It's their loss because there are many different aspects of blogging in which one can explore. Rather than to judge bloggin by it's cover, why not have a go at it? Some don't know that there are rules and restrictions to blogging sicne most bloggers don't abide by them. Crude and vulgarity-proof blogs are popping up everywhere! But of course, that may be a blogger's own style of writing & we can't put it down just like that. *Snaps fingers*

MM: Aye..whatever..But it is through these crude bloggers that blogging receives a bad name. And in a way, it is true that sometimes, people merely see blogging as a way to vent their anger against a situation, a law, a person, a how or anything they are unhappy with. And since some are anonymous, they can write whatever they want.

VS: But on the whole, Blogging is a great way to relieve over-stressed, bored and simply 'looking-for-something-new' personals.

VS: Just. Like. Me.

MM: Well, in a way, blogging can stimulate the mind, just like junk food. In that if you are not writing in short-form or anything like that, you are giving youself more exposure to whatever language you're writing in, like english and it's sort of, an online diary open to thers, thereby making it possible for people to express their feelings.

Metrosexuality: What does it mean?
By: Toh MingMin

The definition of: Metrosexual: In simple terms, a guy who likes to look good...ALOT!

It is nowadays a common sight to see guys with dyed hair, tons of bling and other assorted accessories designed SPECIALLY to make the quintisenssial metrosexual look good, look alpha male.

In the words of ex-skipper David Beckham, they just wanna look, well, good! Giving rise to speculation that they're gay...In fact, females are beginning to like this new look of the modern male.

Not to mention that this look is commercialised by celebrities, on the football field. (Think Cristiano Ronaldo & David Beckham), the silver screen, & the music industry (think Wang Lee Hom & those other rappers). In my opinion, it's kinda cool for a guy to be sensitive enough to care about their looks. However, it actually scares me when a guy comes across as someone who goes for facials regularly and is not ashamed to do so frequently. (Think Timothy Goh of Channel News Asia).

My advice to such men, continue, but don't go overboard.

SI 2!!-The wannabes are at it AGAIN!
By: The collaboration of Vanessa & MingMin

VS: Why is it that many Singaporean viewers, young and old, are attracted to a talent-show with contestants of from weird hair-do's, quirky habits, and powerhouse vocals belting out sometimes soothing, something untuned smash hits?

MM: Maybe it's because Singaporeans just have nothing better to do? Nothing else on TV. Yer know, sometimes just being a fan of someone/something is amusing to bored, overworked, filthy rich kids/adults (?). Spending money on votes is the 'in' thing nowadays.

VS: I beg to differ. The andrenaline rush that viewers get during the elimination round, or in this case, the results show, would bring excitement to their normally dull lives. OR, for the simple reason, teenage girls (and sometimes guys, YIKES!) swoon over the hottie hot heartthrobs, & babelicious babes. What makes ME attracted to S'pore Idol 2, is the hidden talent of S'porean youths. Vocally, aesthetically, & plain HOT. Ironically, the winner of these kinda talent shows may very well NOT be the cream of the crop! Why, so?

MM: I'll answer your question later, but, based on what you said earlier, not to be racist, I find out local talent good...but not awe-inspiring or Grammy award winning. They are, well, good singers with stage presence/something Singaporeans can imitate (like Paul twohill's hairstyle). However, you have to question..Can they be good, no, not good, AMAZING song-writers? Can they bust into American Markets and continue to work it?
And regarding your question as to why winners of these talent-shows aren't always the best we have to offer, well, one reason is that, like in the case of Chris Daughtry (AI Season 5 contestant), all his fans probably figured that all the others were going to vote for him, so eventually, no one/fewer voted.

VS: You talk big.

MM: *Raises brows*

VS: *Clears throat* Yes, I agree on your point, sometimes, it's not always the case of S;pore not having talents, but instead, they're not give an outlet to showcase their ability. Moreover, some of them are mentally challenged, not in the way that they're spastic or retarded, but in the sensethat they may feel insecure about joining a talent-show. In some cases, they may lose morality from peer pressure, or from their other areas in which they need to focus more on. It makes me wonder why they still bother to join these kinda talent shows.

MM: You talk bigger.

VS: Oh, SHUT UP.

MM: *Snickers* Yep, some join totally wrong talent shows for their 'talents'. And, sometimes, those with real talent, well, maybe they look down on these Singaporean talent shows and don't wanna join them, resulting in lack of talent-as we see it.

VS: You're a horrible writer. But I agree with what you said. (:

By: Vanessa Swinn

WE are a team of 3 and growing. I'm Vanessa, and my blog partners are MingMin and Shermin. This is the general introduction of this website, and it is not affiliated to our school, any association, and burger joints. We are known for our prolific writing, but we're still pretty rude sometimes.

We ain't brain-dead. Yes, teens can out-talk any self-respecting adult on a topic that we strongly oppose or agree on . It's just that they don't have an outlet to do so, or maybe they just can't be bothered. Self-motivation doesn't come in handy much these days!

The three of us [MingMin, Shermin & I] plan to write brief write-ups on the latest stuff happenin' around us. For example, the war in the Middle-East, or the Singapore Idol 2 talent-show! From there, we will have exchanges and friendly debates on any articles or reviews posted! So as no to bore the budding teens out there, we will also include Album reviews, celebrity reviews and comments. So don't say that teens can only sit on the couch to watch TV, THEY CAN DAMN WELL WRITE!
